Explore the Obstacles to Closeout Phase Success in Oil and Gas Industry Projects (Case Study: South Pars Gas Field Development Program)

Abstract

Project closeout phase completion of all contract, executive, product and project phase works as organized and processes of this phase as the last project phase guaranteed completion of deliverables, phases and contracts ensures that are structured. According to surveys done in Iran's oil and gas industrial projects, project closeout phase lasts several years and thus a few years after the completion of the project and so the parties involved are remaining conflicts that significant waste of national resources is done. Projects closeout phase with despite the importance of this phase have been less than as field study other phases of the project. The aim of this study is to identify obstacles to success closeout phase with oriented physical closeout in oil and gas industrial projects that is done as multi case-study and comparative approach in four project of one of the south pars gas field development program onshore. Based on the findings of this research, obstacles to success the oil and gas industry projects closeout phase were identificd into 12 groups and 7 of them were categorized as key factors. Implementation solutions are proposed related most important obstacles.
