Abstract

Data envelopment analysis is a set of mathematical programming models based on linear programming which are able to measure the relative efficiency of DMUs. This technique investigates strengths and weaknesses of any DMUs and offers suggestions to improve their efficiency. Most of DEA models require the exact information of inputs and outputs. However, in many real world applications this simple assumption does not hold. Robust optimization is one of recent methods which could handle uncertainty in data. In this paper, a branch of robust optimization whcih is called robust optimization based on convex sets is applied to develop robust DEA model which is capable to handle uncertainty in input data. We present a new method which incorporates the robust counterpart of super-efficiency DEA. The perturbation and uncertainty in data is assumed as polyhedral set and the robust super-efficiency DEA model is extended. The proposed model is used to evaluate the performance and ranking of Iranian ports. The results indicate that the robust DEA approach can be a relatively more reliable method for efficiency estimating and ranking strategies in compare to traditional DEA models.
