Assessment of Organizational and Managerial Wisdom in the Various Levels of Government Agencies with a View to the Philosophical Dimensions

Abstract

This paper viewed organization and management issues from wisdom perspective. It studied wisdom from individual, interpersonal, organizational and strategic level. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of philosophical wisdom dimensions such as; logic, ethics, aesthetics, epistemology and metaphysics on four aforementioned levels. The population of the research was 7491 employees in offices of Hamedan province, on which 381 employees were selected as samples. To collect data from the field, 100 item questionnaire was used. Delphi technique was used in three rounds to design the final questionnaire. Delphi panel of 21 faculty members was formed. Questionnaire was validated through confirmatory factor analysis and its reliability was confirmed by Cronbach’s alpha. According to conceptual model 4 hypotheses were developed to examine the relationship between these variables mutually. In order to test the hypotheses, LISRE program and Path Analysis Model (PAM) was used. The correlation results show positive and significant relationship between dimensions of philosophical wisdom in different levels. Furthermore, positive and significant relationship between the level of managerial and organizational wisdom with dimensions of each level was supported as well. Nevertheless results using LISREL program indicated was supported as well. Nevertheless results using LISREL program indicated that three levels: interpersonal, organizational, and strategic had a significant and positive effect on managerial and organizational wisdom. But there was no significant relationship between philosophical wisdom and managerial and organizational wisdom at the individual level.
