Abstract

This article aims to assess Samand production technology transfer to Syria and presents the applied method for further projects. To do this, different methods of selecting technology transfer method have been investigated. Each method puts the emphasis on different factors, hence it is tried to select those affecting the technology transfer more deeply. Iran Khodro Company is considered as the source of technology and SIAMCO as the recipient, in the final method. The method includes six groups of criteria that can affect a technology transfer process; classified as follows: transfer environment criteria, technology nature criteria, cooperation process criteria, criteria related to the recipient, criteria related to the technology source, and those related to the target market. The project of Samand production technology transfer to Syria is evaluated using the method. The results indicate that the environment is a high-risk one and the technology recipient did not have the required conditions to intake and utilize the technology. Cooperation process is well defined but it did not meet the deadlines. The technology source went through the technology transfer with a proper strategy but the target market was not well analyzed. However, evaluation result of the transfer process is average to good. The experience of this project empowered Iran Khodro Company for further similar projects.
