Providing a Mechanism of Transferring Manufacturing Competences to Increase Market Performance

Abstract

Nowadays, businesses and organizations need more than ever to maintain the competitive advantage for survival. There are different aspects of competitive advantage, but better performance of the firm compared to the competitors and its placement in a superior position is their common aspect. Theory of the firm capabilities and competencies is one of these aspects, which is emphasized as a source of sustainable competitive advantage. In this theory, the core competencies refer to the way of coordinating the manufacturing skills and integrating the various flows of technology in the organization. In fact, organizations can be competitive through identifying and benefiting from their core competencies and attracting external competencies, which results in providing unique products. This study aims at providing a mechanism of transferring manufacturing competencies to increase market performance in SAIPA automobile manufacturing group. This is a survey-practical research that its data are gathered by using a questionnaire, which its validity and reliability is proven. The population of this research was one-hundred and ten people, which were selected among experts and managers of SAIPA Group. The findings proved research hypotheses and provided a local model in transferring manufacturing competencies in accordance with the Iranian automotive industry.
