The Effect of Alignment of Knowledge Management Strategies and Knowledge Condition Styles on Organizational Performance

Abstract

Nowadays, with growing expansion of competition the major concern of managers is to response knowledge via knowledge management. Alignment is one of key practices in knowledge management. Hence, this research has examined the alignment of knowledge styles with knowledge management strategies. KM strategies is measured based on two dimensional model of human-oriented and system-oriented and its managerial styles are based on four dimensional model of socialization, extrapolation, combination and internalization. Meanwhile, alignment of KM strategies and styles are measures based on strategic reference points in Hall Matrix (2001). The present study is an applied one in terms of its purpose and in terms of data collection method, it is a descriptive and non-experimental research.
The statistical population of this research is all managers and senior experts of public sector agencies in Tehran. The findings of this research show that is an alignment between Passive Knowledge Management Strategy with Socialization, System-Oriented Strategy with Externalization, Human- oriented Strategy with Internalization and Dynamic Strategy with Combination style. By the way, this alignment leads to increase organizational performance.
