The Role of Organizational Factors on Spin-Offs Success in Iran Defense Industries

Abstract

Fulfillment of R&D core and network approach in a ministry that technology is one of the capitals and bases of its business, can be a challenging and complicated issue. Creating of a technology based spin-offs network in defense industries is one of the ways to achieve the approach. By doing a survey of defense scholars, this research tries to identify and rank the organizational factors influencing spin-offs success in defense industry, which play important role in relation to yellow technologies. We have identified 43 factors through the study of exit literature and interview with some of the defense R&D managers. By asking 14 defense industries experts, 27 factors have been made choice as the final factors. Then statistical sample’s opinions have been collected about impact degree of the factors by questionnaire. By ranking these factors as: “will and determination of MOD board”, “mother organization support”, “the mother organization’s executive ability”, “motivation of the mother organization” and “need sensing by the mother organization” are identified as five top factors. The result also shows that the first four factors do not have a good condition.
