Abstract
Diplomacy of science and technology is one of the definite goals of high level documents in the field of science and technology in Iran. Mustafa Prize is a great symbol of science and technology in the Islamic world, which can play a significant role in the development of the IRI international scientific relations and scientific diplomacy in the Islamic world. This research was done with the aim of finding a model to introduce this award as a science and technology diplomacy tool, an exploratory research method with a qualitative strategy was exploited, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 9 policymakers and the prize executives. Finally, with the analysis of the content and the formulation of unifying categories, a scientific award model was proposed as a tool of science and technology diplomacy. Accreditation, audience network, institutionalization and prize structure are among the components of this model. On the other hand, the most important results of this research are: Failure to provide motivations and drivers of science and technology diplomacy by holding the prize, and as a result, the need to secure the desire and support of the policy-making body for maximum use of the prize as a tool for science and technology diplomacy; The need to pay attention to the issue of solving problems in the Islamic world, which is one of the neglected parts of the prize structure. the need to pay attention to the Mustafa Prize winners as the support priorities of other institutions.
