Key Principles and Mechanisms of Defense Acquisition Systems

Abstract

This paper aims at identifying and classifying key principles and mechanisms of defense acquisition system and proposing proper strategies related to each category in context of Iran's defense industries. This research is belonged to quantitative researches category and it has employed survey as research strategy. At first and through studying some documents related to defense acquisition systems in pioneer countries such as USA, UK and France, 28 principles and mechanisms were identified. Then, the number of these items reduced to 20 by exploiting from 12 experts from defense industries in an expert panel. After that and in order to assess the priority and current situation of these principles and mechanisms, 40 questionaries were distributed among defense managers and specialists and finally 32 questionaries were completed. Eventually, these 20 principles and mechanisms were classified in 4 categories based on their priority and current situation and proper strategies were proposed for each category: monitoring strategy (low priority-unfavorable situation); revising strategy (low priority-favorable situation); improving strategy (high priority-unfavorable situation) and monitoring strategy (low priority-unfavorable situation).
